Doug Meijer is a Board Director of Meijer, Inc., the family-owned Grand Rapids, Michigan- based retailer that operates hundreds of supercenters and grocery stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. A grandson of company founder Hendrik Meijer, Doug joined the family retail business at the age of 12 in the marking/receiving area in the stores. Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from The University of Michigan, he resumed his career with the company. Doug is also a generous philanthropist engaging with organizations dedicated to improving the human condition. Doug currently serves on the board of i understand and is a Director for The Meijer Foundation. Doug is the driving force behind the establishment of the Grand Rapids based Doug Meijer Medical Innovation Building at Michigan State University, dedicated to developing and producing non-invasive therapeutics for cancer and other diseases.

Doug is a former board member of Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. He is past chairman and board member of Blessings in a Backpack and formerly served on the boards of Grand Bank, Davenport College, University of Michigan National Campaign Board, the West Michigan Campaign Council, and DeVos Children’s Hospital Foundation. He resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
